Eleanor Beauchamp was the daughter of Richard Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick and his first wife Elizabeth Berkeley. Eleanor married three times, firstly to Thomas, Lord Ros and then to Edmund Beaufort, the grandson of John of Gaunt. Edmund and Eleanor had a large number of children. After the death of Edmund at the Battle of St. Albans in May of 1455, Eleanor married Walter Rokesley. Eleanor played an important role during the War of the Roses because of her family ties and marriages, especially through her marriage to Edmund Beaufort who was a Lancastrian supporter. Although she did not take part politically, it was her children whose actions had historical consequences. Eleanor died in 1467 with many of her children having already died, been killed or executed.
