Compsognathus belongs to the Compsognathidae family of dinosaurs which are characterised by being small, family cat sized preditors running on two legs. Compsognathus had a long neck and head with small sharp teeth. Its body was also long And slim as were the legs. The tail was especially long.
The main diet of the Compsognathus were small lizards. This is known because a specimen dug up in France was found to have the remains of a lizard within it.
