alle Crucis Abbey is located in North Wales and lies just to the north of Llangollen. The abbey was founded in 1201 by Madog ap Gruffuud Maelor and built in a quiet valley, typical of many Cistercian foundations. Although the abbey was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1536, and the buildings falling into disrepair, much of the original structures can be seen today. These include the west front and section of the east end of the church, Several sections of the buildings that surrounded the cloister remain, including the chapter house and sacristy.
