 castle was built at Greenwich on the southern bank of the River Thames in London by Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester in around 1440. He built a tower and which is now the location of the Greenwich Royal Observatory and a palace which is now the site of the Royal Hospital. Originally the building was called Greenwich Castle or the Manor of Pleazaunce. See Also
